Bostock v. Clayton County, Georgia Holding: An employer who fires an individual merely for being gay or transgender violates Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. Judgment: Reversed and remanded, 6-3, in an opinion by Justice Gorsuch on June 15, 2020. Justice Alito filed a dissenting opinion, in which Justice Thomas joined. Justice Kavanaugh filed a dissenting opinion.
